Plastic Bags in the Earth 
solo exhibition of LIAN YI-AN

“Feel like something is over there, actually nothing at all, but what is so-call nothing? Perhaps something will be found nearby or being left, anyway, there will always be a answer, in that case, I try to figure out what makes the answer correct. ”

 

MUMU GALLERY is pleased to present Plastic Bags in the Earth, a solo exhibition by LIAN Yi-An(b.1991) at our gallery, featuring a selection of painting on silks and videos created in these two years. Plastic Bags in the Earth, which means something people will find out during the archaeological digging process, such as bottles, plastic bags, nets… or something like these, things are not related to research target.

 

Artworks of LIAN Yi-An focus on the very normal things what we see every day, and through her creating ability, she reorganize a new balance to let us understand her works better.

 

“All the pictures has its own story, but I won’t tell you, because that’s very boring if you know it. I use another picture to isolate the real story, that might seem a little false, but I think explaining what the story is doesn’t mean people can understand it, every story has its special moment, humor or bizarre, that kind of moment is the key point of story, I know they need to be felt in some other way, so not showing audiences the original story doesn’t and won’t make me regret.”     

 

LIAN Yi-An(b.1991) , graduated from Material Art and Design, TNNUA, now studies in Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts, LIAN Yi-An is excellent in organize confusion thoughts with her delicate strokes and lines into concrete and understandable feeling. This exhibition includes 18 painting and 2 videos; we sincerely invite your visiting during the period, May 5 till June 16, 2018.
 

「看起來好像有什麼,其實什麼都沒有,可是什麼是什麼都沒有? 最後總會在附近找到點什麼也剩下點什麼,反正會有個答案,我想要試著思考是什麼原因讓答案看起來成立?」

木木藝術很榮幸邀請藝術家連苡安在五月份舉辦個展《晚近干擾物》,此次展覽將展出藝術家繪畫及錄像作品。晚近干擾物,指涉在考古挖掘過程中夾雜在土層裡的寶特瓶、塑膠袋、紗網...等物品,或研究目標之外的東西。

連苡安的作品聚焦於生活場景或日常觀察到之尋常事物,重組出我們對作品理解的經驗平衡。

 

「畫面都有一個故事,但我不會說的,因為那樣很無聊。」

 

「我用了其它的畫面去隔絕真正的故事,這說起來有點虛偽-解釋了故事似乎並不能了解故事的內容-每個故事的內裡都有那些幽默的奇怪時刻,那才是重心,我知道他們需要用可被感受的方式整理出來,所以我不會覺得可惜或後悔,雖然不知道為什麼怎樣都有點不舒服。」

 

連苡安(b.1991),畢業於臺南藝術大學材質創作與設計系,現正就讀臺南藝術大學造形藝術研究所,靈活運用細膩的筆觸線條將雜感整頓,組成具象化之情緒表達於作品。此次個展將展出18件繪畫作品與2件錄像作品,木木藝術邀請觀者駐足作品前,進入《晚近干擾物》展覽中尋找目標之外的重點。
